Young People for the Environment and Environmental Law - 2023
The kick-off event was attended by investors Mr. Felix Glenk, Mr. Sukhbaatar.J, Member of Parliament and Minister, Ms. Nyamgerel.G, Head of the Office of the Crime Prevention Coordination Council and Ms. Batjargal.J, Head of the NUM Board.
The program aims to raise awareness among the younger generations, especially schoolchildren from distant districts, of the need to conserve and protect nature and the environment through environmental education.
Last year, 5000 pupils from the city districts of Chingeltei and Bayanzukh took part in the program. This year, the program is supported by Justice Minister Nyambaatar, Member of Parliament Sukhbaatar.J, Mayor Sumiyabazar and another 5000 students from the same districts.
During the visit, participants have the opportunity to take part in the exciting stations “Seed Journey”, “Animals in our Museum”, “Knowledge from the Greenhouse” and “On the Trail of the Invisible”, thereby experiencing education in a natural environment in a hands-on way. In addition, the “ Let me live!” station is on offer, where visitors can learn about the damage caused, penalties, liability and preventive measures for environmental crime. The station was founded on the initiative of HSS in 2022. In order to increase the quality of education and offer a practice-oriented interactive course, the premises were refurbished this year with the support of the HSS.
In the future, the Environmental Education Center aims to expand its responsibility for sustainable development. The HSS will contribute to this with German expertise, liaison with German institutions and cooperation at regional level. For example, Ms. Sunjidmaa, the expert of the Environmental Education Centre, will visit the Education Centre for Sustainable Development in Bavaria and other relevant institutions with the support of the HSS in order to exchange experiences.
