RCOY 2026
From LCOY to COP17 and RCOY Central Asia 2026
The Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Mongolia has supported a connected process to strengthen the meaningful participation of young Mongolians in climate action. HSF supported the organization of Mongolia’s Local Conference of Youth (LCOY), where young people from Ulaanbaatar and local aimags shared their perspectives and strengthened their knowledge of climate issues.
Selected participants were then supported to take part in COP17 in Ulaanbaatar, where they contributed to youth-led activities, side events, and discussions with national and international stakeholders.
Building on this process, Ms. Oyundalai Puntsagnorov—one of the most active participants during LCOY and COP17—was selected to represent Mongolia at RCOY Central Asia 2026, held from 4–6 September in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. At RCOY, Oyundalai represented the National Environmental Youth Council of Mongolia as a co-organizer and member of the regional Organizing Committee. She contributed to regional consultations, technical and advocacy sessions, and the preparation and presentation of the Regional Youth Statement. This connected support—from national capacity building and participation at COP17 to regional representation at RCOY—has helped young Mongolian climate leaders strengthen their skills, share their perspectives, and build lasting regional cooperation.
