Visit of the Prison Authorities

Mr. Felix Glenk visited Mr. Ariunbold.Kh, Deputy Director of the Prison Service, and exchanged information about the function and tasks of both institutions and possibilities for cooperation.

From 2001 to 2016, the HSS, in cooperation with the prison authorities, ran a program for young prisoners from the 411 juvenile detention centre to teach them basic legal knowledge and manual skills. A total of 955 juveniles were trained as part of the program, of which 170 juvenile prisoners received a specialist certificate.

 

In the past, the prison authority also worked with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) as part of a cooperation with comparable German authorities, such as Scheideweg in Bochum, which included activities with former prisoners. In recent years, however, the exchange has decreased again, partly due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to head of the authority Ariunbold. In this regard, Felix Glenk spoke out in favor of supporting opportunities for cooperation in order to re-establish lost contacts and resume the exchange.
