Key Issues in Handling Environmental Crimes
The training was opened by the Resident Representative of the Hanns Seidel Foundation for the Korean Peninsula and Mongolia, Felix Glenk, together with representatives of the police leadership.
As part of the training, invited experts from the Botanical Garden of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences delivered specialized lectures. Academician, Sc.D., Prof. Ch. Dorjsuren presented on “Determining the original diameter and volume of trees based on stump measurements,” while Dr. (Ph.D) G. Burenbaatar, Scientific Secretary of the institute, introduced “Methods for ecological-economic valuation of plants and damage assessment.”
In addition, investigators from the Environmental Police Unit, as well as experts and specialists responsible for environmental analysis and evaluation, participated in the training. Key discussions focused on practical aspects such as the collection, sealing, and transportation of samples (plants, animals, wood, water, and soil) in the context of investigating and adjudicating environmental crimes. The training contributed to strengthening both the knowledge and practical skills of the participants.
