Preservation of Nature as the Realization of the Right to Life

In cooperation with the Hanns Seidel Foundation, the National Human Rights Commission conducted a study 'Implementation of the right to live in a healthy and safe environment', in which a working group led by Commissioner D.Sunjid worked in Dornod Province from 23-29.08.2023.

The working group met with the Governor of Dornod Province, M. Badamsuren, the heads of responsible agencies and departments of the province and other officials, as well as the Governor of Matad Soum and responsible officials of the Citizens' Representative Council to discuss the implementation and challenges of the right to live in a safe environment of pastoralists and people living in the area of influence of the oil exploration company.

 

In addition, the survey was conducted using quantitative and qualitative methods, including surveys, individual and group interviews, familiarization with company activities on the ground, observation and analysis of relevant documents, including surveys of residents of Soums Matad and Khalkhgol in Dornod Province, herders, transport drivers and oil company workers living in the oil company's area of influence.

 

 

 

In addition, air, water and soil samples were taken at certain points in the area and professional laboratory analyses are being carried out to reflect the results of the analysis in the study.
