Nature, Rule of Law, and Regional Cooperation: New Interview on HSF Mongolia’s Work
The interview highlights an important idea: regardless of political systems, shared challenges such as environmental protection can serve as a bridge for dialogue and cooperation. In a region like Northeast Asia, where political differences often limit exchange, such practical entry points are of particular importance.
At the same time, the interview underlines a key principle of the Hanns Seidel Foundation’s work in Mongolia: sustainable cooperation requires strong institutions, clear legal frameworks, and the consistent application of the rule of law. Environmental governance, in this sense, is not only about protection of nature, but also about effective legislation, enforcement, and accountability.
Mongolia plays a unique role in this context. As a democratic country with an active foreign policy and a tradition of international dialogue, it provides an important platform for regional exchange and cooperation.
The Hanns Seidel Foundation has been active in Mongolia for more than 30 years, working closely with partner institutions to strengthen the rule of law, good governance, and sustainable development. It’s also mentioned in the interview that, as a German political foundation, it's work is rooted in Germany’s commitment to supporting peace, stability, and rule-based international cooperation.
