Seminar
International Seminar on the Legislative Reform of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia
This event was held within the framework of the “Constitutional Reform, Democracy, and Human Rights” project, jointly implemented by the Constitutional Court of Mongolia and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, with support from the Hanns Seidel Foundation and the Constitutional Law Institute of the National University of Mongolia.
In his opening speech at the seminar, the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia stated, “During the drafting of the bills, international best practices, as well as recommendations from domestic and international scholars and researchers, were considered, all while grounded in the principles of the Constitution of Mongolia and the country’s national context. The aim was also to align the reforms with recent developments in the judicial sector. Once enacted, these legislative reforms will enable the Constitutional Court of Mongolia to meet the standards of constitutional courts in democratic and rule-of-law countries, strengthening its independence and enhancing the legal guarantees for fully implementing its duty to uphold the Constitution. Moreover, cooperation with the Venice Commission significantly contributes to developing constitutional legal theory and practice, especially by deepening the scientific understanding of constitutional procedures.”
In addition to the members of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia, the seminar was attended by representatives from legislative and judicial bodies, scholars and researchers from legal education and research institutions, lawyers, and representatives from civil society organizations. translate into german
