Innovative techniques to combat environmental crime
The training was aimed at strengthening the officers' investigative skills, techniques in the field of environmental crime and promoting the international exchange of experience.
Police Colonel B. Shinebaatar (Head of the Administrative Offenses Investigation Department of the Mongolian Environmental Police at the General Police Headquarters) and Police Major Z. Byambanorov (Chief Forensic Technician of the Department of Forensic Science in Zavkhan Province) participated in the training.
A special highlight of the event was the meeting with Mr. Gerko Ernst, Ms. Jessica Unglaub from the Department for International Cooperation and Mr. Detective Chief Inspector Müller from Department VI of the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office. The participants had the opportunity to ask questions about the prevention and fight against environmental crime.
Furthermore, innovative methods and technologies for the identification and amplification of handprints, DNA traces and tissue traces at crime scenes of environmental violations were presented as part of the training. In addition, the participants were given a good insight into the working methods of the state water police, where samples were taken to analyze violations in water pollution.
The training was instrumental in expanding the skills of Mongolian officials in the field of environmental crime. During the training, the head of the BPFI, Dr. Buggisch shared his great interest in a long-term cooperation with the Mongolian partners. It can be said that bilateral cooperation between the Mongolian judicial authorities and their international partners will be promoted.
