Follow-up event for HSS alumni in Northeast Asia

From 15 to 17 April 2016, Department V/6 Northeast Asia and Department IV/1 Scholarship Holders Abroad of the Hanns Seidel Foundation organized a follow-up contact conference for alumni from the Northeast Asian region for the first time in Ulaanbaatar, which was attended by representatives of the alumni associations of Mongolia, North and South Korea and China as well as Hanns Seidel Foundation employees abroad from the above-mentioned regions, a total of 40 people.

Mr. L. Bold, Member of Parliament, Chairman of the Mongolian-German Parliamentary Group, Mr. Stefan Solleske, 1st Secretary of the German Embassy, and Prof. Dr. N. Altantuya, Professor of the Institute of International Relations and Public Administration of the Mongolian State University, attended the conference at the invitation of the HSS Project Office and gave interesting lectures on Mongolian-German relations and development cooperation as well as relations between Northeast Asian countries and answered questions from the conference participants.

 

The participants presented the alumni associations of their regions and their activities and exchanged views on the activation of the alumni associations and their cooperation with each other.

Mr. Willi Lange, Head of the Northeast Asia Department, and Dr. Czepalla, Head of the International Scholars Department of the Hanns-Seidel-Foundation, judged the conference to be successful, worth preserving and worth emulating.
