Roundtable discussion
Roundtable discussion took place.

The Media Council regularly organizes consultative meetings for editors on current topics. On October 30, a consultation session titled “Is the Role of Journalism in Government Merely Oversight?” was held with the support of the Hanns Seidel Foundation.

In April 2024, an editorial meeting on the topic “Can the Professional Activity of Journalists Be Legally Prohibited?” had already taken place. Under this theme, a roundtable discussion was organized to examine the strengths and weaknesses, as well as the challenges and opportunities of current collaboration between media and the judiciary. Step-by-step measures are planned for the future to strengthen the role of the media in monitoring and reporting on judicial matters, as well as enhancing the openness, transparency, and accountability of courts.

During the recent session, Prof. Dr. D. Dagiimaa, Chair of Journalism and Media Technology at the University of Humanities, delivered a lecture on the topic “Rules of Media in Governance.” Ms. G. Ariunbolor, a lawyer, researcher, and CEO of the law firm “Human Rights,” gave a presentation on “Judicial Proceedings and the Media.”

At the end of the meeting, participants revisited the main topic “Is the Role of Journalism in Government Merely Oversight?” and exchanged opinions on the influence of media on governance, particularly concerning legal education and public opinion formation.
