Environmental Crime Prevention and Control

Around 200 officers from the capital and local authorities took part in the two-day training course to professionalize officers, which was organized in collaboration with the Environmental Police, World Wildlife Fund and Zoological Society of London.

The training was led by experts, researchers and teachers from the National Forensics Institute, the National University of Mongolia and the University of the Interior of Mongolia.

 

The following topics in particular were covered during the training:

 

  • Methodology for investigating environmental crimes and administrative offenses, consolidation of evidence  
  • Use of the 'Electronic Patrol' software, prevention as the primary goal of the fight,
  • Knowledge about gene funds,
  • Current challenges in ecological forensics,
  • Plants that are used and sold illegally the most,
  • Methodology for tracking the illegal use of harmful and hazardous chemicals
  • Methodology of the investigation of illegal logging
  • Methodology for investigating the illegal collection of wild plants
  • Storage and protection of evidence
  • The problems to be considered in administrative offense proceedings
  • Factors that trigger disciplinary violations, prevention
  • Personal development

On the second day of training, a competition was organized among the regional participants to determine professionalism.

 

In cooperation with the University of Internal Affairs, the foundation is developing a curriculum for the further training of environmental crime prevention officers, which will be applied from 2023.
