New scholarship holder of the HSS Mongolia

Ms. Irmuunzaya graduated from the German Studies program at the National University of Mongolia (NUM) in 2010 and in the following years she completed the preparatory course and the Master's program in Environmental Sciences at the same university. In January 2016, she defended her master's thesis on “Assessing water quality of Sugnugur, Gatsuurt and Kharaa rivers using macroinvertebrate communities”.

From 2010 to 2013, she worked for the Mongolian-German project 'Intergrated Water Resource Management-Model Region Mongolia in Central Asia II (MoMo II)', and from 2014-2017 for the Freshwater and Nature Conservation Center, and since then for the German Sparkassenstiftung Mongolia.

As part of our National Scholarship Program, she is researching the topic of “Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Mongolia”. The research will last for one year at the Environmental Education Centre of the National University of Mongolia (NUM) and will be supervised by Dr. R. Sunjidmaa. During her research, she will investigate and analyze the current status of environmental education measures, ESD activities in Mongolia and the implementation of the National Plan for ESD in Mongolia, as well as compare the content and methodological approach of ESD activities of environmental education institutions and ESD initiatives in Mongolia and Germany. Additionally, after completing the research, she will present recommendations on the possibilities of integrating ESD content into traditional environmental education content.

We wish her every success in her research work!
