New classroom in the environmental education center

The Hanns-Seidel-Foundation Mongolia actively integrates support for environmental initiatives and activities into its programs and operations. As part of this, the foundation works closely with the Environmental Education Center, particularly in the area of imparting environmental knowledge to pupils from economically weaker backgrounds.

The above-mentioned project entitled “Young people: Environment and Law” was launched in 2022 and has now been running for two years. Since the start of the project, over 8000 pupils have already taken part in the program, and this autumn a further 2000 children are taking part.

The 'Environmental Law' classroom was designed to employ interactive teaching methods, utilizing audio-visual aids to foster students' creative thinking skills. Teaching materials containing legal content have been provided and strategically placed in each corner of the classroom to capture the students' attention effectively. Topics covered include environmental law, rare and endangered species, and federally protected areas.

The 'Environmental law' teaching station covers the topics of 'Illegal mineral exploration and exploitation', 'Illegal deforestation', 'Natural services and the law' and 'Illegal hunting'. A special highlight of this educational station are QR codes that are linked to detailed video content. This gives visitors the opportunity to delve deeper into the topics from home.

It remains important to sensitize young people to current environmental problems. We hope that the pupils who represent our future will treat nature with greater care as a result of the knowledge we impart.
