Education for sustainable development in Germany

Ms. Sunjidmaa.R, an expert from a partner organization of the Hanns Seidel Foundation, the Environmental Education Center of NUM, focuses on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in the federal state of Bavaria. During her research, she visited various German institutions specializing in ESD for different age groups and exchanged ideas.

The Munich Adult Education Center and its partner institutions, which directly provides education for sustainable development to adults through various training courses and activities in line with the needs of the population.

 

Physical Geography and Environmental Modeling Department of Geography LMU Munich, where education for sustainable development is offered as part of the El Mundo program. El mundo is an educational program that responds to a variety of requests from science, politics and society, which consider the anchoring of education for sustainable development as a cross-sectional task.

The staff unit for Climate Protection, Education for Sustainable Development/Environmental Education Unit, Bavarian State Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs, which promotes the initiative and projects relating to education for sustainable development in schools.

Education for Sustainable Development, Environmental Education, State Garden Show Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protection, which promotes the initiative and projects relating to education for sustainable development in official and non-official educational institutions.

State Association for Bird and Nature Conservation (Landesbund für Vogel- und Naturschutz in Bayern - LBV) in which a variety of activities are carried out with the aim of making a specific contribution to education for sustainable development through the knowledge and protection of animals and plants in their area.

As well as visits to public environmental institutions such as the German Museum, the Geological and Paleontological Museum of the LMU, the Bavarian Garden Exhibition, the Botanical Garden Nymphenburg-Munich, Museum of Man and Nature, Biotopia

The Environmental Education Center is developing a vision to further expand its field of activity in the direction of education for sustainable development. In order to achieve this goal, the Hanns Seidel Foundation supports and works closely with the Environmental Education Center.
