An official visit
HSF welcomes Mongolian Minister for Justice and Internal Affairs to Munich.

Since 1993, the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) has been actively committed to promoting the rule of law and advancing democratic structures in Mongolia. As part of this ongoing engagement, Markus Ferber, MEP and Chairman of the HSF, recently had the honor of welcoming Oyunsaikhan Altangerel, the Mongolian Minister for Justice and Internal Affairs, to the HSF headquarters in Munich.

Legal Development as a Long-Term Process
The discussion centered on close collaboration for legal development in Mongolia. Both parties emphasized that advancing the rule of law requires careful, long-term planning - a process in which the HSS actively participates with its Bavarian expertise.

Partnership on Equal Footing

Markus Ferber underscored the importance of a stable partnership: “Mongolia offers the necessary stability, and with our partners, cooperation on equal footing is achievable.”

Minister Altangerel, in turn, highlighted the pivotal role of democracy and human rights in his country’s development and stressed the care required to safeguard these values.

Focus on Geopolitical Challenges
The discussion also addressed Mongolia's unique geopolitical challenges due to its location and circumstances. Both sides agreed that these challenges necessitate targeted support and long-term partnerships.

HSS Goals in Mongolia
The HSS’s efforts in Mongolia extend beyond promoting the rule of law to include sustainable development and support for modern environmental legislation. These initiatives aim to foster stable democratic structures and sustainable growth.

The HSS remains dedicated to using its expertise to support Mongolia’s future - championing democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.
