Open Lecture
Insights on Germany’s Political Foundation System at the National University of Governance.

Mr. Felix Glenk, Head of the Hanns Seidel Foundation’s Representative Office in Mongolia, delivered a public lecture at the National University of Governance on the topic of “Germany’s Political Foundation System and International Cooperation”. The event was attended by numerous scholars and researchers who received detailed information about the German political foundation system and its important role in international cooperation.

The public lecture was opened by Dr. (Ph.D.), Associate Professor D. Surenchimeg, Director of the National University of Governance. In her opening remarks, she welcomed Mr. Glenk not only as a friend but also as a representative of a long-standing partner organization that has been collaborating with the university for many years.

During the lecture, the speaker engaged with the audience by asking questions and encouraging open discussions, which enhanced participation and made the event more engaging.

The lecture emphasized that "ideas without action are meaningless," highlighting that German political foundations strive to turn ideas into concrete results.

Although these foundations are publicly funded, they operate independently and serve as crucial bridges connecting political parties, civil society, and the international community. They contribute to policy development, support civic education, and actively engage in international cooperation by working with governments, NGOs, and local communities to address global challenges.

Felix Glenk explained the principles of German political foundations using the Hanns Seidel Foundation as an example. He provided detailed insights into their legal framework, historical development, impact on democracy, role in Germany’s foreign policy, and the challenges they face today. Political foundations are not just think tanks but actively participate in policy implementation and play a key role in strengthening international cooperation.

During the open discussion at the end of the lecture, participants highlighted the role and contributions of political foundations in democratic development, current challenges, future trends, and development cooperation. They also engaged in an open exchange on lessons and experiences that could be adapted in Mongolia, as well as aspects that should be approached with caution.

At the conclusion of the event, Dr. (Ph.D.), Professor B. Baysgalan, Dean of the School of Management, expressed gratitude for the valuable insights shared during the lecture. She emphasized that the event made a significant contribution to international cooperation and academic exchange.
